Monsieur Batignole (2002)
Parijs, 1942. De norse slager Batignole ontdekt dat er een paar hammen zijn verdwenen uit zijn slagerij. Door een samenloop van omstandigheden krijgt het joods gezin dat boven de winkel woont de schuld van de diefstal. De familie wordt gedeporteerd, maar het jongste zoontje Simon weet te ontsnappen en staat binnen de kortste keren bij Batignole op de stoep. De oude, onvriendelijke Batignole heeft helemaal geen behoefte aan een klein jochie in zijn slagerij, maar uiteindelijk besluit hij Simon toch te helpen. Hij verstopt Simon bij hem in huis en bedenkt een plan om hem over de grens te smokkelen.
