Stage Beauty (2004)
Rond 1660 is Edward 'Ned' Kynaston de meest gevierde actrice van Engeland. Het is namelijk verboden voor vrouwen om op toneel op te treden. Ned profiteert hiervan door gebruik te maken van zijn schoonheid en doordat hij vrouwelijke rollen perfect kan neerzetten. Koning Charles II is het zat om telkens weer dezelfde artiesten te zien in dezelfde tragedies. Omdat niemand zijn suggesties om "Othello" op te leuken met een paar goede grappen serieus neemt, besluit de koning om de koninklijke toneelstukken interessanter te maken door echte vrouwen mee te laten spelen. Dit is goed nieuws voor de brutale minnares van de koning. Voor Ned komt dit nieuws natuurlijk hard aan. Van de ene op de andere dag is hij een nobody totdat Maria, een rijzende ster, besluit om weer een man van Ned te maken.
