Barbra Streisand groeide op in de arbeidersklasse van Brooklyn en droomde ervan te ontsnappen aan haar moeilijke jeugd. Ze was een geweldige student en weerstond de druk om naar de universiteit te gaan, omdat haar zinnen stevig op Broadway waren gericht.
