Crazy in Alabama (1999)
Alabama, 1965. Lucille wordt al jaren mishandeld door haar echtgenoot. Uiteindelijk besluit ze haar geluk in Hollywood te gaan zoeken om het te maken als tv-vedette. Nadat ze haar man vermoord heeft, laat ze haar zeven kinderen achter bij haar moeder en rijdt naar Hollywood. Elders wordt haar 13-jarige neef Peejoe geconfronteerd met de rassenongelijkheid. Een corrupte sheriff doodt een zwarte jongen omdat hij een duikje had genomen in het plaatselijke zwembad. Peejoe is de enige getuige die het tegen dit onrecht wel opnemen.
