The Mean Season (1985)
Golden Globe kandidaat Kurt Russell* en Oscarkandidate® Mariel Hemingway zetten onder leiding van regisseur Phillip Borsos uitstekende vertolkingen neer in deze provocatieve en spannende thriller rond media, roem en moord. Tijdens een stormachtige zomer wordt Miami opgeschrikt door een meedogenloze psychopaat die zijn bevrediging haalt uit de aandacht die de media aan zijn moorden besteedt. Als de opgebrande reporter Malcolm Anderson (Russell) van de Miami Herald een artikel publiceert over een vermoord tienermeisje kan hij in ieder geval één van de lezers tot zijn fans rekenen: de moordenaar zelf. Aangemoedigd door de politie om deze anonieme relatie voort te zetten in de hoop de moordenaar te pakken, krijgt Malcolm zelfs twee exclusieve verhalen van de moordenaar. Maar als ook de ster van Malcolm stijgt besluit de moordenaar de inzet van het macabere spel te verhogen. Hij ontvoerd Malcolm's verloofde (Hemingway) en wil weten welke prijs Malcolm bereid is te betalen voor eeuwige roem!
