The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939)
Parijs, Frankrijk, 1482. Frollo, opperrechter van de welwillende koning Lodewijk XI, wordt verliefd op de schoonheid van Esmeralda, een jong Roma-meisje. De gebochelde Quasimodo, Frollo's beschermeling en klokkenluider van de Notre Dame, leeft in vrede tussen de klokken in de hoogten van de immense kathedraal totdat hij door de gestoorde magistraat wordt betrokken bij zijn kwaadaardige plannen om zichzelf te bevrijden van Esmeralda's vermeende betovering, waarvan hij denkt dat het het werk van de duivel is.
