De populaire crooner Russ Raymond geeft zijn carrière op zijn hoogtepunt op en gaat bij de marine onder een alias, Tommy Halstead. Dorothy Roberts, een verslaggever, ontdekt echter zijn identiteit en volgt hem in de hoop hem te fotograferen en zijn identiteit aan de wereld te onthullen. Aan boord van de Alabama ontmoet Tommy Smoky en Pomeroy, die hem helpen verbergen voor Dorothy, die talloze plannen bedenkt in een poging om Tommy / Russ als zeeman te fotograferen.
