The Passionate Stranger (1957)
Judith Wynter is een gelukkig getrouwde romanschrijfster wier romantische werken gretig worden verslonden door tientallen vrouwelijke lezers. Wanneer Carlo, een knappe jonge Italiaanse chauffeur, arriveert om te werken voor Judith en haar man, een professor die momenteel herstellende is van een aanval van verlamming, veroorzaakt hij nogal wat ophef; als hij vervolgens het manuscript van Judiths laatste roman leest, komt hij tot een nogal ongelukkige conclusie... en het leven in huize Wynter wordt inderdaad erg ingewikkeld!
