De film volgt de reis van Kitty, de denkbeeldige vriendin aan wie Anne Frank haar dagboek opdroeg. Kitty, een vurige tiener, wordt in de nabije toekomst wakker in het huis van Anne Frank in Amsterdam en begint aan een reis om Anne, van wie ze gelooft dat ze nog leeft, te vinden in het Europa van vandaag. Terwijl het jonge meisje geschokt is door de moderne wereld, stuit ze ook op Annes nalatenschap.
