De jazzmuzikant Izzy wordt tijdens een optreden neergeschoten en raakt zo zwaar gewond dat hij nooit meer saxofoon kan spelen. Zijn leven lijkt zijn betekenis te hebben verloren. Op een nacht ontdekt Izzy een dode man en pakt zijn koffertje. Binnen vindt hij een mysterieuze steen en het telefoonnummer van de jonge, betoverende actrice Celia. Plots worden twee volslagen vreemden zielsverwanten en geliefden.
