The Shepherd of the Hills (1941)
De jonge Matt Matthews, een moonshiner uit de Ozark Mountains, haat de vader die hij nog nooit heeft gezien, die blijkbaar Matts moeder in de steek heeft gelaten en haar heeft achtergelaten om te sterven. Zijn obsessie draagt bij aan de ongebreidelde haat in de bergen. De komst van een vreemdeling, Daniel Howitt, begint echter een positieve invloed te hebben op de bergbewoners, die onder zijn zachte invloed leren hun haat van zich af te schudden.
