Dit verhaal zal licht werpen op het feit waarom een dennenboom geen gebruikelijke bladeren heeft, maar het aantal naalden. Het is omdat de natuur de boom moest beschermen tegen invasies van een sluwe schurk. Dit hielp de boom om de huurling-indringer te verslaan, maar veranderde het uiterlijk van de bos schoonheid voor altijd.
