In 1940 werden twintig Canadese bevers naar het eiland "Tierra del Fuego" in het zuiden van Patagonië gebracht voor de commerciële bontproductie. Bevers die geen natuurlijke vijanden hebben, verspreiden zich echter snel over het eiland en veroorzaken massale vernietiging van bomen die de hele Patagonische bossen, rivieren en soorten bedreigen. Waarom zijn natuurbeschermers ervan overtuigd dat 150.000 bevers moeten worden gedood? Waarom zijn sommige van de meest erkende specialisten ervan overtuigd dat uitroeiing niet mogelijk is? Ondertussen speelt de waarheid in op de situatie: een man verkleed als bever deelt flyers uit waarin reclame wordt gemaakt voor een beroemd luchtresort: "Cerro Castor" - Beaver Hill. Jagers claimen subsidies, wetenschappers doen onderzoek, rangers doen wat ze kunnen en restaurants vragen om bevervlees aan toeristen aan te bieden.
