Arctic Blast (2010)
Door een zonsverduistering komt er een stoot supergekoelde lucht naar de Aarde die een groot deel van de ozonlaag meesleurt. Het gevolg daarvan is dat er ijskoude gassen vanuit de mesosfeer naar het aardoppervlak komen. Een Amerikaans onderzoeksschip van de “International Climate Research Organization”, dat in de Antarctische oceaan ligt op z’n 150 kilometer van de kust van zuid Australië voor een onderzoek naar de ozonlaag, wordt plots getroffen door z’n golf van ijskoude lucht die alles en iedereen in een mum van tijd bevriest. De briljante natuurkundige Jack Tate (Michael Shanks), die al jaren al zijn tijd en energie aan zijn werk besteedt, is door altijd van huis te zijn, vaak in de meest afgelegen uithoeken van de wereld, compleet van zijn vrouw Emma (Alexandra Davies) en dochter Andrea compleet vervreemd. Maar ook Jack zijn theorieën dat er iets staat te gebeuren vervreemdt hem van zijn collega’s.
