Chuck Wepner mocht op 24 maart 1974 de ring in als stootzak voor Muhammad Ali. Tot ieders verbazing hield de straatvechter met de betonnen kaak zich aardig staande, tot zijn technische knock-out in de vijftiende ronde. Ali ging halverwege dit gevecht ook een keer tegen het canvas.
