In deze gecondenseerde filmrecut van Hayao Miyazaki uit 1979, gaat een jonge jongen genaamd Conan op een groot avontuur. Conan leeft in een wereld die voornamelijk bestaat uit oceanen; De grote landmassa's zijn vernietigd door de wapens van de grote ramp van 2008. Hij ontmoet een jong meisje genaamd Lana, die wordt ontvoerd door de technologische stadstaat van Industria terwijl ze proberen die wapens te herwinnen. Samen met zijn vrienden wil Conan Lana redden en Industria beletten de rest van de wereld te bedreigen.
