The Fourth War (1990)
De Amerikaanse kolonel Jack Knowles (Roy Scheider) is tijdens de Koude Oorlog gestationeerd aan de West-Duitse grens met Tsjecho-Slowakije. Hij draagt zoveel decoraties en onderscheidingen dat zijn uniform nauwelijks te zien is. Zijn driftbuien maken hem niet populair en hij wordt door het leger als een probleemgeval gezien. Ze hebben hem altijd zover mogelijk van alle probleemgebieden geplaatst om escalaties te voorkomen. Nu heeft een oude vriend hem naar deze grens geplaatst, waar hij eigenlijk ook niets mag doen. Als hij machteloos ziet hoe een vluchteling een paar meter voor de veilige Tsjechische grens wordt neergeschoten en de helikopter van de net zo opvliegende Russische Kolonel Valachev (Jürgen Prochnow) over zijn hoofd vliegt, barst de bom. Knowles maakt illegale uitstapjes over de grens om de Russische installaties te saboteren en Valachev doet hetzelfde. De spanning loopt steeds hoger op.
