Het zijn de woelige tijden rond het referendum inzake de mogelijke onafhankelijkheid van Quebec. Joseph trekt in het huis van een vriend met als doel om te stoppen met drinken. Hij nodigt zijn ex-vrouw Emma uit en we volgen hun stormachtige reünie.
