Het Colosseum in Rome symboliseert de vroegere macht van het Romeinse Rijk. Dit monument, gebouwd door 30.000 slaven, bood plaats aan 50.000 toeschouwers. De historische reconstructie van deze documentaire laat je de verschillende stadia van de constructie ontdekken, de ingenieuze systemen die worden gebruikt voor de werking ervan en de rol ervan in de Romeinse samenleving: het vermaken van de mensen met onder meer shows, zeeslagen binnen de omheining zichzelf en gladiatorengevechten.
