Another Life (2001)
Een vrouw wordt ten onrechte beschuldigd van de moord op haar man in het Edwardiaanse Londen. Vlak voor het uitbreken van de Eerste Wereldoorlog trouwde Edith Graydon met haar vriend Percy Thomson. Hij overleeft de oorlog, maar hun huwelijk is niet gelukkig. Ze houdt niet echt van hem en hij voelt dat elke dag. Hij is ook bezitterig en hun dagelijks leven is een voortdurende strijd. Ze ontmoet Frederick Bywaters, de voormalige vriend van haar zus, en wordt verliefd op hem. Ze hebben een lange affaire en haar wanhopige pogingen om een formele scheiding van tafel en bed of echtscheiding van haar man te krijgen, vallen in dovemansoren. Ze zijn ten einde raad en Bywaters besluit er iets aan te doen. Op een donkere avond, wanneer Edith met haar man wandelt, steekt Bywaters hem dood. Edith wordt samen met Bywaters beschuldigd van moord en beiden worden schuldig bevonden. Ze beweert onschuldig te zijn tot de dag dat ze beiden in 1923 worden opgehangen. Gebaseerd op een waargebeurd verhaal.
