Deze documentaire, het langspeelfilm debuut van Ulrich Seidl, onderzoekt het leven van de straatkrantenverkopers in Wenen, een mengeling van mannen uit Turkije, India, Pakistan, Egypte en Oost-Europa, die onder alle weersomstandigheden opvallen en de triviale Weense roddelbladen verhandelen. We zien hun leven op straat, hun krappe woonruimte, hun oppas, de 'trainingsdagen' en het onmenselijke proces waardoor ze eindeloos urenlang moeten werken voor weinig beloning.
