Het verhaal over passie en het tragische lot van een prinses aan het Franse hof in 1562. Mademoiselle de Mézières was een rijke erfgename en we zien de liefde tussen haar en de Hertog de Guise. Tevens wordt beschreven hoe haar Koninkrijk onder druk stond van godsdienstoorlogen.
