Torn Curtain (1966)
De Amerikaanse wapendeskundige professor Michael Armstrong woont met zijn assistente en verloofde Sarah Sherman een internationaal congres bij in Kopenhagen. In het hotel neemt Sarah een cryptische boodschap in ontvangst die voor Armstrong bestemd was. Wanneer de professor verklaart dat hij dringend het vliegtuig naar Zweden moet nemen, wordt Sarah achterdochtig. Ze ontdekt dat Armstrong een vlucht naar Oost-Berlijn geboekt heeft en gaat hem achterna. Daar aangekomen blijkt het dat hij overgelopen is naar het Oostblok. In werkelijkheid heeft de man het voorzien op een belangrijke formule, die hij vanuit Leipzig de grens over wil smokkelen.
