The Jerk (1979)
Navin (Martin) is een supernaïeve jongeman met een hart van goud die opgroeit bij een zwart gezin in Mississippi. Als hij op z'n achttiende verjaardag te horen krijgt dat hij geadopteerd is, besluit hij om de wijde wereld in te trekken. Als snel maken mensen misbruik van zijn goedheid, maar Navin ziet nergens kwaad in. Door een stom toeval wordt hij de uitvinder van een brillenhouder, wordt ie stinkend rijk, en verandert hij van goedzak naar arrogante zak.
