Als een verdwaalde koopman bij een vreemd kasteel aankomt, plukt hij een roos. De eigenaar van dit kasteel, een half-mens, half-monster met magische krachten, staat dit niet toe en dreigt hem te doden, tenzij één van zijn dochters hem komt vervangen.
