McCarthy (2020)
'McCarthy' beschrijft de opkomst en ondergang van Joseph McCarthy, de senator uit Wisconsin die aan de macht kwam na een verbluffende overwinning in een verkiezing waarvan niemand dacht dat hij die zou kunnen winnen. Eenmaal in functie verklaarde hij dat er een enorme samenzwering was die Amerika bedreigde - niet afkomstig van een rivaliserende supermacht, maar van binnenuit. Vrij van terughoudendheid of toezicht voerde hij een kruistocht tegen degenen die hij ervan beschuldigde vijanden van de staat te zijn, een huiveringwekkende campagne die werd gekenmerkt door ongegronde beschuldigingen, pesterige intimidatie, grandioos showmanschap en wreed slachtofferschap.
