Tegenwoordig staat technologie centraal in de zwangerschapservaring. Het begeleidt aanstaande moeders bij hun stappen en beheerst hun leven gedurende de maanden van hun zwangerschap. Medische onderzoeken zijn veranderd in een spektakel, wat heeft geleid tot de creatie van allerlei foetusgerelateerde souvenirs, zoals hangers en andere accessoires. Brazilië is een pionier in het omzetten van driedimensionale intra-uteriene beelden in objecten voor diverse doeleinden.
