Nowhere Special (2020)
Nowhere Special is een indringend en lief Brits drama over een vader die een belangrijke keuze moet maken voor de toekomst van zijn zoontje. John (James Norton) is een 35-jarige alleenstaande glazenwasser in Noord-Ierland die de zorg heeft over zijn zoontje Michael van vier. John heeft echter niet lang meer te leven, dus gaat hij op zoek naar de perfecte ouders voor Michael. Hij denkt te weten wat hij zoekt en weet zich gesteund door het adoptiebureau, maar het perfecte gezin lijkt niet te bestaan. Toch moet John tot een beslissing komen. Wat is een goede ouder en wie is het beste voor Michael? Samen ontdekken ze dat je op je gevoel moet vertrouwen. Nowhere special is gebaseerd op een waargebeurd verhaal. De chemie tussen James Norton als John en Daniel Lamont als de vierjarige Michael is fenomenaal. De film van Umberto Pasolini raakt diep en zindert lang na. Tijdens Film by the Sea werd Nowhere Special dan ook bekroond met de publieksprijs.
