A Crime on the Bayou (2021)
Het verhaal van Gary Duncan, een zwarte tiener uit Plaquemines Parish, een moerassige strook land ten zuiden van New Orleans. In 1966 probeert Duncan een ruzie tussen blanke en zwarte tieners buiten een pas geïntegreerde school te verbreken. Hij legt zachtjes zijn hand op de arm van een blanke jongen. De jongen deinst terug als een slang. Die nacht stormde de politie de caravan van Duncan binnen en arresteerde hem wegens mishandeling van een minderjarige. Een jonge joodse advocaat, Richard Sobol, verlaat zijn prestigieuze kantoor in D.C. om vrijwilligerswerk te doen in New Orleans. Met zijn hulp komt Duncan moedig op tegen een racistisch rechtssysteem dat wordt aangedreven door een blanke supremacistische baas, om zijn oneerlijke arrestatie aan te vechten. Hun gevecht gaat helemaal tot aan het Amerikaanse Hooggerechtshof, en hun levenslange vriendschap ontstaat.
