Deze documentaire gaat over het leven van de Braziliaanse voetballer Edson Arantes do Nascimento - beter bekend als Pelé. Hij was de enige speler die drie wereldbekertitels won. De documentaire blikt terug op de buitengewone periode waarin hij van een jonge superster uitgroeide tot een nationale held, te midden van een radicaal en turbulent tijdperk in de Braziliaanse geschiedenis.
