Aristide Buratti is een rijke kruidenier die getrouwd is met de aantrekkelijke Valentina. Hoewel ze een gelukkig huwelijk lijken te hebben, voelt Valentina zich cultureel minderwaardig omdat ze haar middelbare school niet heeft afgemaakt. Ondanks de bezwaren van haar man schrijft ze zich in op een privé-kostschool.
