Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)
Hushpuppy, een onverschrokken zesjarig meisje, woont bij haar vader Wink in "de Badkuip", een gemeenschap ten zuiden van de Mississippi-Delta aan de rand van de wereld. Alhoewel Wink van zijn dochter houdt bereidt hij haar met harde hand voor op de ineenstorting van het heelal, raakt de natuur van slag en stijgen de temperaturen. De ijskappen smelten en een leger van prehistorische wezens genaamd Aurochs wordt losgelaten. Met het water dat steeds maar stijgt, de Aurochs die komen en de gezondheid van Wink die achteruit gaat, gaat Hushpuppy op zoek naar haar verloren moeder.
