Island of the Blue Dolphins (1964)

Deze familiefilm, gebaseerd op het geliefde boek van Scott O'Dell, vertelt de avonturen van een jong Indiaans meisje. Nadat haar vader is vermoord door een kwaadaardige blanke pelsjager, voegt Karana zich bij haar gemeenschap terwijl ze hun eiland in de Stille Oceaan verlaten om op het vasteland te gaan wonen. Bij haar vertrek realiseert Karana zich dat haar broer is achtergelaten. Ze zwemt onmiddellijk terug om bij hem te zijn en de twee blijven op het verlaten eiland. Hoewel Karana een wolf kan temmen, heeft haar broer niet zoveel geluk met de dieren en wordt hij gedood door een troep wilde honden. Ze moet tegen alle verwachtingen in overleven.
