Heredity (1912)
De negenjarige Nedda is een directe afstammeling van de Trevors, een familie die haar wortels kan traceren tot de tijd van koning Karel I. Helaas lijdt de familie Trevor zware financiële problemen, waardoor Nedda uit de luxe van haar voorouderlijk huis in Groot-Brittannië wordt weggerukt en opgroeit in de Lower East Side van New York. Tien jaar later wordt de volwassen Nedda beschuldigd van de moord op haar moeder.
