Hick (2012)
De dertienjarige Luli is het beu om voor zichzelf te zorgen en ze heeft genoeg van haar moeders zwak voor alcoholistische mannen. Ze besluit om het heft in eigen handen te nemen: ze trekt westwaarts om haar droom een superster te worden waar te maken. Op haar reis ontmoet ze Eddie, een zwerver die kwaad is op de rest van de wereld, en Glenda, een getormenteerde maar geestige vrouw die Luli onder haar hoede neemt. Luli’s gevatte humor, de hulp van Glenda, de lichtzinnige Eddie en haar eigen kleurrijke dagdromen beschermen haar tegen de ongelooflijk onvoorspelbare groep van personen die ze op haar reis tegenkomt.
