Return to Seoul (2022)
Wanneer haar vlucht naar Tokio wordt geannuleerd, besluit de 25-jarige geadopteerde Freddie spontaan naar Zuid-Korea te vliegen en op zoek te gaan naar haar biologische ouders. Wat begint als een korte trip naar Seoul, wordt een lange reis langs stille dorpjes en bruisende nachtclubs in haar geboorteland dat haar nog volledig vreemd is. Hoe meer de eigenzinnige Freddie opgaat in de Koreaanse cultuur en haar zoektocht, hoe harder ze begint te twijfelen aan wie ze dacht te zijn en wie ze wil worden. Return to Seoul is een energiek drama over een vrijgevochten vrouw op zoek naar identiteit tijdens verschillende fases van haar jonge leven. Na de première in Cannes maakte de film van regisseur Davy Chou een succesvolle tournee langs vele filmfestivals en ontving wereldwijd lovende kritieken.
