Baraja voelt zich als een nutteloze en vermoeide overlever. Politieke en maatschappelijke teleurstelling, lange teruggetrokken uren en neerslachtigheid brengen een alomtegenwoordige gewelddadigheid teweeg in een man die in niets of niemand meer gelooft en evenveel tegen iedereen vecht als tegen zichzelf.
