Marvin's Room (1996)
Jaren geleden heeft Bessie haar zelfstandige bestaan opgegeven om de zorg op zich te nemen voor haar bedlegerige vader Marvin en haar kinderlijke tante. Als de verstrooide dokter Wally, bij Bessie leukemie vaststelt, heeft ze plotseling zelf medische hulp nodig. Met tegenzin komt haar jongere zuster Lee, samen met haar twee zoons, naar huis terug. Het is haar eerste familiebezoek in zeventien jaar. De familieverhoudingen blijken nog net zo gespannen als altijd en een verzoening lijkt ver weg...
