Biografie:

John Saxon (geboren als Carmine Orrico; 5 augustus 1935 – 25 juli 2020) was een Amerikaanse acteur en beoefenaar van vechtsporten die in een periode van 60 jaar aan meer dan 200 projecten werkte. Saxon staat bekend om zijn werk in westerns en horrorfilms, waarin hij vaak politieagenten en rechercheurs speelde. Saxon werd geboren en groeide op in Brooklyn, New York, en studeerde acteren bij Stella Adler voordat hij zijn carrière begon als acteur onder contract bij Universal Pictures, waar hij speelde in films als Rock, Pretty Baby (1956) en Portrait in Black (1961). In de jaren 70 en 80 vestigde hij zich als karakteracteur en vertolkte hij regelmatig wetshandhavers in horrorfilms zoals Black Christmas (1974), Dario Argento's Tenebrae (1982) en A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Naast zijn rollen in horrorfilms speelde Saxon samen met Bruce Lee in de vechtfilm Enter the Dragon (1973) en had hij bijrollen in de westerns Death of a Gunfighter (1969) en Joe Kidd (1972), evenals in de avonturenthriller Raid on Entebbe (1977). In de jaren negentig verscheen Saxon af en toe in films, met kleine rollen in Wes Cravens New Nightmare (1994) en From Dusk till Dawn (1996). Saxon overleed op 25 juli 2020 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, aan een longontsteking.
