Gillian Leigh Anderson OBE (geboren 9 augustus 1968) is een Amerikaanse actrice, schrijfster en activiste. Ze is vooral bekend van haar rollen als FBI-agent Dana Scully in de sciencefiction-serie The X-Files (1993–2002; 2016–2018), Lily Bart in de dramafilm The House of Mirth (2000), DSI Stella Gibson in de BBC/RTÉ-misdaadserie The Fall (2013–2016), Jean Milburn in de Netflix-comedy-dramaserie Sex Education (2019–2023) en Margaret Thatcher in het vierde seizoen van de Netflix-dramaserie The Crown (2020). Ze heeft twee Primetime Emmy Awards, twee Golden Globe Awards en vier Screen Actors Guild Awards gewonnen. Anderson werd geboren in Chicago en groeide eerst op in Londen en vervolgens in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
