Jasika Nicole groeide op in Birmingham, AL en studeerde muziektheater, dans en studiokunst aan Catawba College in Salisbury, NC voordat ze naar New York verhuisde om in het theater te gaan werken. Daar trad ze op in off- en off-off Broadway-musicals en speelde ze voordat ze haar carrière in tv en film begon. Nicole identificeert zich als een queer, biracial en zwarte vrouw, is sinds 2006 bij haar vrouw Claire Savage en heeft voor het laatst de rol van de queer WOC-verteller Keisha Taylor vertolkt in de cultfavoriete Night Vale Presents-podcast 'Alice Isn 't dood'. Naast tv en film is Nicole een fervent ambachtsman, die essays en blogposts schrijft over intersectioneel feminisme in de creatieve wereld. Ze naait haar eigen kleren, maakt schoenen, bouwt en stoffeert meubels en tekent en schrijft haar eigen webstrips.
