Фильм рассказывает о наглом психопате Босуэрте, сбежавшем из тюрьмы при помощи страстно влюбленной в него адвокатши. Бандит решает спрятаться со своими сообщниками в самом обычном доме. Пребывание преступной троицы в непрошенных гостях превратилось в кошмар для его мирных обитателей. Психологический триллер, римейк фильма Уильяма Уайлера (1955). В основу обоих фильмов положен роман Джозефа Хэйеса (Joseph Hayes), ранее поставленный на Бродвейской сцене.
