Американец Майк Харпер отправляется в Англию по делам, и он вместе со своей женой Джанет переезжает туда. Но вскоре она убеждается, что Майк собирается уйти от своей новой привлекательной помощницы Клэр. Майк также проводил немало времени со своими коллегами-одиночками из Британии. Уставшая и одинокая, Клэр нанимает очаровательного эксперта по антиквариату Пола, чтобы тот украсил дом Харпера и, возможно, заставит Майка ревновать.
