Кейт несказанно рада тому, что их семью навестил брат её мужа, Дэвид, с которым никто не виделся уже много лет. Муж Кейт, Эрик, целыми днями пропадает на работе, поэтому присутствие заботливого и обходительного Дэйва пробуждает в Кейт новые чувства. Вот только со временем Кейт понимает, что Дэвид совсем не тот, кем кажется на первый взгляд, и его одержимость женой и дочерью брата начинают пугать всех вокруг.
