Американский актер. Родился 31 марта 1935 года в Беверли-Хиллз, Лос-Анджелес, штат Калифорния, США. Полное имя - Джордж Ричард. С детских лет мечтал стать художником. В 1956 году окончил колледж в Помоне, где специализировался на прикладном искусстве. Во время обучения заинтересовался драматическим искусством.
