Родилась 22 августа 1925 в Плейстоу (Лондон, Эссекс, Англия). Окончила Гилдхоллскую школу музыки и драмы, за обучение в которой заплатила, работая секретарем на государственной службе. Во время Второй мировой войны была диспетчером Министерства внутренних дел. Первую роль получила на сцене лондонского Вест-Энда в качестве дублера в «Морской свинке». Снималась в небольших ролях в фильмах «Проблеск» (1946) и «Слепая богиня» (1947), прежде чем всерьез решила заняться карьерой в кино. Однако, случившийся с ней нервный срыв и последующая госпитализация, не позволили продолжить работу в кино. После длительной реабилитации начала восстанавливать свою актерскую карьеру. В 1961 году стала сниматься в сериалах, в первую очередь в очень популярном проекте «Мстители» с Патриком Макни в главной роли. Также начала вновь появляться на сцене, сыграв слепую героиню триллера «Дождись темноты», а также сыграв двойные роли в постановке «Мистер и миссис» по пьесам Ноэля Кауарда. Продолжала работать даже в свои 90 лет — снялась в многолетнем английском популярном комедийном сериале «Поднятая рука» (1990) и выступила в своем сценическом шоу с участием одной женщины «Wayward Women». Ушла из жизни 5 апреля 2020 года в Льюисе (Восточный Суссекс, Англия).
