Hustle & Flow (2005)
Als der kleine Zuhälter DJay zufällig seinen alten Freund Key, einen Toningenieur, wiedertrifft, gerät er ins Grübeln. Schließlich träumte auch er einst von einer Karriere im Musikbusiness. Also beginnt DJay, der schon immer gerne mit Worten spielte, Rap-Texte aufzuschreiben. Mit Hilfe von Key und Shelby, einem Kirchenmusiker, macht er sich daran, die ersten Songs aufzunehmen. Als der Rap-Superstar Skinny Black seinen Besuch ankündigt, sieht DJay die große Chance gekommen, sein Leben von Grund zu ändern.
