Wer ist Mr. Cutty? (1996)
Laurel Ayres ist sauer: als ihr Kollege Frank Peterson die langersehnte Beförderung erhält, die eigentlich ihr zusteht, kündigt sie ihren Job in der Finanzbranche und gründet ihr eigenes Beratungsbüro. Schon bald muss sie erkennen, dass sie als Frau, die noch dazu schwarz ist, keine Chance an der von Männern dominierten Wall Street hat. Also greift Laurel zu einer Notlüge: sie erfindet einen Partner namens Robert S. Cutty, der sich in der Öffentlichkeit nicht zeigen möchte und in dessen Auftrag sie unterwegs ist. Plötzlich floriert das Geschäft. Sowohl der Millionär Donald Fallon als auch ihr intriganter Ex-Kollege Frank versuchen, an Mr. Cutty heranzukommen. Als dann auch noch die Polizei vor der Tür steht, weil sie eine Klage wegen Wirtschaftsbetrugs gegen Cutty untersuchen will, bleibt Laurel nichts anderes übrig, als ihren angeblichen Partner der Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren: Laurel verkleidet sich als Finanzgenie Robert S. Cutty.
