Ein Platz ganz oben (1965)
Zehn Jahre, nachdem er sich durch die Heirat mit der Tochter des Chefs einen Platz "an der Sonne" erkämpft hat, muß sich Joe Lampton mit der Leere in seinem Leben konfrontieren. Alle Annehmlichkeiten des Lebens sind keine Kompensation für ständige Demütigungen und Enttäuschungen. Beim Versuch, in die Freiheit auszubrechen, erleidet er kläglich Schiffbruch.
