Die Verdächtigen (1974)
In Südfrankreich wird die Leiche einer 22-jährigen amerikanischen Touristin, Candice Strasberg, mitten in der Garrigue gefunden. Zwei Regentage vor der Entdeckung der Leiche erschweren die Spurensicherung vor Ort, da der Regen die Fußspuren verwischt hat. Anhand des Tagebuchs des Opfers versucht die Polizei, ihren Weg nachzuverfolgen. Die Ermittlungen werden Gaston Delarue, dem Staatsanwalt von Tarascon, Gérard Souffries, dem Untersuchungsrichter, Kommissar Bonetti von der Polizei in Marseille und Kommissar Bretonnet von der Pariser Polizei übertragen. Zu den sechs Verdächtigen gehört auch Bernard Vauquier, der Sohn des Senatspräsidenten. Die Ermittlungen erweisen sich als ebenso kompliziert wie heikel. Doch wer hat Candice Strasberg ermordet oder getötet? Drehbuchadaption von „La Pieuvre“, einem Roman von Paul Andreota, erschienen 1970.
